Blessington U12B 3 v Cabinteely A 1

Blessington U12’s should a bit of bouncebackability with a well deserved victory over a very defensive and well organized Cabinteely team, a result that will do the U12’s no harm after last weeks thrashing by the excellent Beechwood.
Blesso took this game by the scruff of the neck from the off and should have been one up after only a few minutes when Ryan Mulvey had a shot blocked on the line after been fed through by the impressive Daragh Gilroy, Adams was next up with a mazey run  only two see his shot fly straight into the keepers arms from the edge of the box. Tadgh Miley and Cian McCarthy were dominating the midfield and with Adams and Daragh Broe Foster on song on the wings, Cabinteely were finding it difficult to get out of their own half, but in saying that Blesso were finding it hard to create real clear cut chances. Adams again found space in the box after some lovely work from Daragh Gilroy, but snapped at his shot and again the Cabinteely keeper saved well. Adams became the provider this time when he slid a neat ball through to Ryan Mulvey this time the little striker made no mistake hitting his shot first time low and hard into the net (1-0). Tadgh Miley had a shot saved well from the Cabinteely keeper from the edge of the box and then Cian McCarthy had a fantastic shot whizz just past the post. (H/T 1-0)
The second half Blesso upped the anti and in fairness should have had a peno right at the start of the second half when the Cabinteely defender used his hands to block a shot. Tadgh Barrett then saw his long distance effort brilliantly turned round the post by the away teams keeper and again it was the Cabinteely keeper who kept the score down with another fine stop from a Ryan Mulvey snap shot. The second was eventually provided by Daragh Broe Foster who after beating two defenders cut inside and from the edge of the box bent a lovely shot past the despairing keeper (2-0), Virtually straight from the kick off, Blessing broke again Eoin Clarke played a one two with Ryan Mulvey, he picked up the return pass and fed into Tadgh Miley who took the ball in his stride past the defender and laid off a lovely weighted pass into the path of Daragh Gilroy and the boy coolly slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper, to get a well earned goal which his performance deserved, Blesso piled on the pressure for a fourth but time and time again the keeper came to Cabinteely’s rescue. The only real break Cabinteely saw them pull a goal back, Blesso defense was caught napping and saw the Cabinteely striker nick in to push the ball wide past the keeper, the striker looked to have pushed the ball wide and with Blesso players covering, the referee blew his whistle inexplicably for a penalty. His decision was based on the Blesso keeper stopping a clear goal scoring opportunity by clipping the striker as he rounded him. The Cabinteely midfielder placed the ball down and slotted a well taken peno low into the net, that really was the end of the action and in the end a well deserved victory for the Blesso kids.
