Blessington A 2 – 0 Granada A

Our under 10’s got their season off on a bright note on Saturday morning against a strong and well organised Granada team that took all the points in the corresponding fixtures last season.

Blessington, playing our first game on the larger of our two pitches at the Community College seemed to relish
the extra space with some fine pass and move football from our tireless midfied of Sonny Simpson,Conor O’Toole,Ben Fitz and Dean Neilan.
The lads got their just rewards on 10 minutes with a cracker from Ben Fitz and he did’nt disappoint with the (Why me – Balotelli) style celebration that followed. The lads all seemed on top form and were clearly enjoying their return to the new season as they continued to work hard and kept pressing the Granada defence.Sean Broderick was leading the line up front and worked tirelessly throughout the first half creating space and pressurizing the Granada defence, all credit to Sean as he has worked very hard in pre-season training.
In Mikey O’Toole between the posts we have a very safe pair of hands and he proved this again today sniffing out any danger that came his way.
Our defensive trio of Daniel Cooney,Luke O’Brien and Dean O’Connor also looked to be relishing being back in League action with some very cool headed defending.

Blesso got their just rewards with a second goal just on the stroke of halftime with a typically tenacious goal from our tigerish midfielder Conor O’Toole.

Half time Blesso 2-0 Granada

The 2nd half was a more equal affair as Granada came out hunting for goals and the Blesso Defence was put under pressure from the off.Jack Denieffe slotted in at right back was straight into the thick of the action and coped well with anything that came his way.
Emma Downes starting the 2nd half leading the line up front worked tirelessy in the lone strikers role, not an easy task continued where Sean left off creating space and laying off passes to the onrushing midfielders.
Granada were pushing hard to find the breakthrough but it didn’t come their way today mainly due to the tireless graft of the whole Blesso team.
It has to be noted the skill level of Dean Neilan on the left wing for Blesso today was a joy to watch at times.

All in all a good start to the season for our under 10’s and hopefully they will continue to impress and enjoy their football during the season win, lose or draw.Well done Guys.

Blesso – MIkey O’Toole,Daniel Cooney,Luke O’Brien,Dean O’Connor,Sonny Simpson,Conor O’Toole,Ben Fitz,Dean Neilan,Sean Broderick,Emma Downes,Jack Denieffe
