Blesso’s U15’s rise to the challenge

Blessington U15A 3 v Knockmitten U15A 2

Blessington battle through bruising encounter to earn hard fought win

A tough physical encounter was the order of the day at the community college this Sunday as Blessington U 15 A took on a well organised Knockmitten side. Things didn’t start well for the home side and within the first 10 mins they found themselves 1-0 down to a well worked goal from Knockmitten. All credit to Blessington however as they weathered a further few minutes of pressure but eventually equalized through a speculative shot from Edon Bytyqi.

With the sides all square at half time Blessington hit the ground running and within the first 15 mins of the second half took a two goal lead with both goals from Greg O’Neill who took his chances with great skill and endeavor.

The final 10 minutes were nervous times for a Blessington team who battled gamely all the way through the second half. A Knockmitten shot came off the upright and an injury to Greg O’Neill effectively put Blesso down to 10 men. With 5 minutes to go Knockmitten struck to make it 3-2.

The final whistle couldn’t come quick enough but when it did a relieved Blesso team had secured 3 points. Although all the Blesso team played well, special mention should go to the Blesso defense, Deirmuid Nugent and James Jackson in particular. Ciaran Mescall in midfield also had a superb game but had to put up with constant fouling from the opposition.
