Blessington U14s put in Gr8t performance

Blessington 14s 8 Lakelands 3 .

Our season finally got up and running on a cold and blustery morning at Crosschapel. In a exciting first half it was honors even with both team scoring twice in the space of twenty minutes. Blesso took the lead thanks to our little Messi (Dara Broe Foster) who is proving a handful for opposing teams this season. Lakelands didn’t sit back and pressed well for a deserved equalizer, then Ryan Mulvey made a rare mistake in goal for Blesso when trying to clear a back pass that found a Lakeland player who scored with a fine shot. Within a minute Blesso had made  it 2-2 thanks to a solo effort from Tadgh Miley . Half time 2-2 . In recent weeks Blesso lads have been found wanting but not today, they took the game to Lakelands and you could see the confidence shine. The fact was that in the space of 35 minutes we played as a team. A brace from Adams and Sean a first from Craig and a superb run from Dara was the scoring statistics but only a small part of the story. From Ryan in goal who’s kicking was a joy to behold (2 assists) the defending was more solid with Iain and Aidan at the center finding a good outlet for midfield. Jack and Timmy along with Stephen Ryan and Patrick took hold and mopped up any loose ball. As coaches we love when the lads show us how good they can work and our last goal was team work of the highest order. In the space of 20 seconds and six passes the ball was in the Lakelands net. Ryan to Alex to Iain back to Alex to Timmy to Dara drilled across for Sean Oh yes .This team has a way to go but with the attitude and team spirit I’m betting we can go forward together.

Up The Blesso.
